Bocairent visit

Itinerary:

We head towards the village of Bocairent, which is about 1.5 hours away from Torrevieja. This village has been selected as the Cultural Capital of the Valencian Region in 2021 and has also been declared a cultural-historical site in Spain in 1975. This medieval village offers a wonderful setting for a visit. There will be plenty of beautiful pictures to take.

We explore the medieval district and walk along the 2.5 km long “La ruta mágica” route. You will see, among other things, the city hall, houses hanging on the mountainside, fountains, a bridge and observation decks from the “top”.

We deviate from the route to explore the medieval caves Sant Blai Ice Cave and Covetes dels Moros (alternatively Covetes del Colomer). Visiting Covetes dels Moros (Moorish Caves) is a 1-hour adventure in relatively cramped caves, so an easier option is Covetes del Colomer, where you can watch, among other things, an English-language video of the history of the place. We also go to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and taste authentic Spanish flavors.

We will also visit the oldest bullring in the Valencian region before heading home (note: the doors are not always open). In addition, we taste local products (liqueur etc.) in a shop called 53 Covetes where you can also buy some of your favourite ones.
