Come hiking along the Vía Verde of Alcoy. It will take you over impressive bridges, leading you deeper and deeper into the Mediterranean woodland.

Itinerary:

Alcoy is approx. 1.5 hour drive from Torrevieja. Once there, hike along the disused rail track Vía Verde (green way) route towards the El Salt waterfall.
The hike to the falls and back is approx. 4 km., but If you feel energetic the hike can be extended (up to 10km). Along the route there are amazing mountain landscapes, wonderful aqueduct bridges and tunnels to be seen. A particular highlight is El Salt, the highest waterfall in the Alicante area, approx. 60m high. El Salt is best seen in spring when the Barxell River is at its fullest.  After hiking  lunch at a nearby restaurant. Hiking is fairly easy, but good shoes are recommended.

In addition, a stop off at the centre of Alcoy before heading back to Torrevieja.
